Big Coffee Co loses out to Fairtrade
Douwe Egberts, owned by the giant US Sara Lee company, lost a major court case last year to a dutch local authority who wanted to specify Fairtrade supplies for their facilities. The European Court decision means it IS OK for local authorities to demand Fair trade coffee, tea, sugar, snacks etc. In Cumbria UK, the local authority already does this, and we congratulate them.
